Speak the journalist’s language.
Journalists want to see a macro trend in pitches. So do the research for them and include some macro data. Is anything actually real without a number associated with it? Maybe, but it makes it a lot less powerful.
Don’t take it from me, one of the USA TODAY journalists that was featured on Michael Smart’s website mentioned that it’s easier to write about a topic or a brand if a pitch includes a current macro trend.
Give the journalists what they want and then some.
Data is great, but combine it with a well-crafted juicy story into your pitch and ooo baby you’re cookin. You’ll be primed to get some good lookin earned media for your brand or clients.
Focus on email deliverability.
